* PREFACE: This was a very good week for Kayla, and she is glad that everything happened, especially because transfers are coming up and she isn’t sure if she and Sister Standage will stay together. Between the temple and witnessing Taylor’s baptism, her spiritual tank was filled. And in case Taylor reads this, congratulations and thank you for being a friend to our daughter.
Hello family and friends!!
Okay let me tell you about the cake. Basically we say we get cake when we have really good days or when miracles happen and such. Well this week has been full of cake! Let me tell you about it…
Monday we had a mission fun day down in Marion Indiana. That involved the missionaries in the Fort Wayne and Muncie stakes as well as President and Sister Porter. It was fun. Not my favorite, but it was fun being with all the other missionaries.
Monday night we went and visited a lady that we had tried to visit on Sunday, but at the time she was busy and so we rescheduled for Monday night. We had a great lesson with her about the restoration. She asked us questions and we were able to answer them and help her know more about our church. She seems really interested! We have another appointment with her this week and we are going to see if we can get her and her family to come to church with us! It should be good. 🙂
Okay then we had the temple on Wednesday. OH MY GOSH!! It was awesome. 🙂 We were seriously gone all day long. The Columbus temple is so super tiny. Nothing like the temples out west. It is about as big as a normal church building that we meet in! All of a sudden it appeared on the road. I wasn’t expecting it! Hahaha. It was a really good experience for all of us though and we all enjoyed it very much! The car ride there and back was pretty fun too because we were with the Columbia City elders and one of the elders from Decatur. (They had to split up because their ride to the temple cancelled.) We had a good time laughing with each other and taking pictures. The members that took us to the temple also took us out to lunch before we headed home. That was sure nice of them! 🙂
Saturday was probably the best day of all. Taylor got baptized!! She has been one of the greatest investigators. She has always wanted to learn more and she stayed so faithful and tried to overcome the temptations that Satan gave her. Her parents and her sister came to the baptism to support her. They definitely felt the spirit. They gave both sister Standage and I a hug and thanked us for all that we had done. I know that through Taylor’s good example they too will one day be investigating the church.
Sunday, Taylor was confirmed a member of the church and received the gift of the Holy Ghost. Words can’t even begin to describe how awesome this weekend was! There is a scripture in D&C 18 verse 15 and 16 that talks about how great your joy will be if you bring one soul unto Christ, and how great will be your joy if you should bring many souls to Him. I can definitely say that my joy this weekend was awesome! Taylor’s example and her decision to get baptized was a push for me to keep going and to keep teaching more people and helping them come closer to Christ.
This morning we also had a miracle happen. We received a referral this week from a member in one of the other Fort Wayne wards. He had met a guy named Casey and they had a great conversation about the church. Casey said he was interested and wanted to know more, so the member found the missionaries in his area (which was us) and let us know about him. We called Casey and set up a time to meet with him. We met him at the Chapel this morning, gave him a church tour, and then taught him about the restoration in the chapel. The spirit was strong and he was soaking everything in! He is definitely ready. He even said the prayer at the end and it was perfect! We have another appointment with him on Thursday which we are looking forward too! 🙂
There you have it! Some of the miracles and blessings that have happened this week. I am very happy right now that I can’t even tell you! 🙂 I am thankful for this gospel and for the chance that I have to be out here serving the Lord. I love you all and I hope you have a great week!
